Another slip'n slide day! Our best friends Katie & Rylee came over this morning to play in the water with us. I don't think Katie planned on getting as wet as she did but really she should have known better. I mean really she sat next to Jake with water balloons, what did she think was going to happen. Jake got everyone wet I mean soaked! It was so much fun and the kids just ran and played. When Jake was not popping balloons on us he was pushing the kids down the slide, they got so wet but loved every minute of it. It's a good thing we have 2 slip'n slides because I see a lot of use in our future.

t-ball awards

Yesterday we had our end of the year bbq and awards for t-ball. The kids were all super cute running around playing, I heard one boy say "I just love my new friends" They also had a water fight against the coaches. Jake went easy on them at first and let them get him wet then he turned on em and just started dumping bottles of water. I'm glad it was a hot day because some of the kids were very wet. He did a really good job coaching this year and a lot of the parents want Jake to coach again :) Ethan gave Jake a special award for coaching and said "thanks for spending all your coaching time with me, I love you Daddy!" I am so glad they got to spend this time together.

slip 'n slide

Ethan got a slip 'n slide from Uncle Billy & Uncle Danny for his birthday. I think it just may be his first one and in fact his friend Gracie also got him one. Anyways the kids had a blast on it today. Gracie liked to drink the water and she would show Ethan how to do it "no bubba dink dink" Ethan gave in and drank the water too but then he was back to sliding. I think they played on this thing for almost 2 hours before Gracie moved on to the next toy and Ethan well he soon figured out how to slide other things down it. Ohhh the fun days of summer and the innocence of a child.

restless nights

Gracie has been having a hard time falling asleep at night. I've tried reading her stories and laying down next to her but she just can't fall asleep. Sometimes she will just get up and go play in another room like she was never put to bed to begin with. Last night while I was on the computer in my room she got out of her room and went to sleep on the top of the couch. So I put her back in her own bed and went to bed myself. When I got up this morning she was gone from her room. I first checked the living room to see if she went back to the couch but she was not there, I must say I was a little worried at this point. After checking the other rooms I looked into Ethan's room and sure enough she was in bed with him. I asked Ethan if he had a visitor in his room last night and he said "I am never sleeping with her again. I think she kicked me like 5 times and then she jumped on head today to get me up." When I started to laugh he said "You think thats funny when I told her I didn't want to get up she got down and took off all my blankets........uuugggg why is my sister a monster?"

Today we took the kids over to Jake's parents bar. The bar was closed so the little ones got to run around the whole place and have fun while the adults pulled weeds and planted flowers. Ethan just loves it down there he says "it's so cool they have lots of big TVs and whatever you want to eat you can have". He also enjoys ordering a drink and having his Grandma make it, today's special was cranberry juice and 7up with cherries of course! This was Gracie's first time running around there. The last time she was there she was only 4 months old. She liked to sit in the windows and watch us working outside but you know her it wasn't long before she was out there helping too.

We worked hard, played games, ate great food and the best part was we were with our family! Ethan asked how many days until he could go to the bar by himself and when I told him not until he was my age he just put his head down and said "you've got to be kidding me I'll never be that old!" I just smiled and he said "I'll be talking to Grandma & Grandpa about this"

Maybe he could convince them to make it a restaurant too :)

I took the kids over to my sister's pool today. We found out that Ethan is a little fish and Gracie has no fear of water. They played and splashed and as Ethan would say "swim swim swim we went swimming" They needed to have a little snack in the middle of swimming so Aunt Mimi took them to the vending machines. After some more swimming she took them to feed the ducks. Ethan says you have to watch out for the big ones because they are mean.

ted & brandi

We spent the day with Ethan's "big friends" as he calls them, Ted & Brandi. First we took the kids to the spray ground at Blue Lake. There were lots of water fights and I'm not talking between the kids :) as you can see the big kids got in on the water fun too. After playing at the lake we went to Ted & Brandi's house for a BBQ.

It was a great day and the best part is we got to hang out with our adult friends and the kids got to play too. We are really lucky to have such good friends that like our kids and want to hang out with them. Now maybe next time we'll send the kids without us!
